Air Force Ones Sneakers are basketball shoes created by Nike in 1982.  It was the first shoe ever created by Nike to include the patented “Nike Air Technology”.   Since their creation, Air Force Ones have become extremely popular sneakers.

Air force ones are sold in three styles, low-top, mid-top and high-top, with the high-top version of the sneakers being a bit harder to find, and some stores only carry low and mid top styles.  Although they come in many different styles, variations and colors, the most popular colors are the plain white and plain black air force ones, sometimes called ‘white on white’ or ‘black on black’.

After being created in 1982 by Nike designer Bruce Kilgore, Nike has released several variations and additions to its line of air force ones.  What few people know is that the shoes were actually discontinued by Nike the following year after their debut, but were re-released by the company in 1986. 

Air Force 2’s were released in 1987 by Nike as a slight variation to the original sneaker.  The following year, in 1983, Air Force 3’s were debuted, and actually proved to be the most popular in the series among basketball players because of the more sturdy and rugged design that it sported.

Finally, the Air Force STS, or AFIV was introduced in 1989, and featured a bit higher profile, which would become typical for most of the sneakers that Nike released in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
